About this trail
The Stratton Pond Trail is a gentle route through mixed hardwood and softwood forest in the Green Mountain National Forest to Stratton Pond, the largest body of water on the Long Trail. It starts from a lot on the north side of Kelley Stand Road (the Stratton-Arlington Road), about 8 miles west of Route 100 in West Wardsboro, and joins the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail, which share the footpath here.
Good to know
- Camping is allowed only at designated sites.
- Kelley Stand Road is gravel and is not plowed in winter.
- No horses, mountain bikes or motor vehicles on the trail.

Walking distances follow the mapped trail network. They are not a route, they ignore slope, and they are not driving directions.
OpenStreetMap grades the footing here as: well-marked trail, no exposure. That describes the ground, not how hard the hike is.
Elevation
Climb, time and difficulty are estimates worked out from the mapped line and USGS elevation data, not measurements or official ratings. Time assumes about 2.5 mph plus an hour per 1,500 ft climbed.
Shelters and campsites
1 mapped within about 500 ft of the trail, listed north to south. Brown dots on the map. Check the land manager's rules before relying on one: some need a fee, a reservation or a permit.
