About this trail
The Windsor Trail climbs Mount Ascutney from a year-round trailhead on Route 44A in Windsor, 1.6 miles north of the state park entrance. The park's guide gives 2.7 miles to the summit, passing Gerry's Falls at 0.8 mile and the Castle Rock and Brownsville Rock viewpoints near the top. Ascutney rises alone above the gentler hills around it, and the observation tower near the summit gives a panoramic view.
Good to know
- There is no drinking water or toilet on the trails; bring what you need.
- Summit weather can be very different from the trailhead.
- The Futures Trail joins the Windsor Trail about half a mile below the summit.
